Meet Dr. Rajendran
Lavanya Rajendran
DMD, MDSc
Dr. Lavanya Rajendran is a board-certified periodontist with advanced training in dental implantology, esthetic soft tissue procedures, and minimally invasive periodontal therapies. Known for her calm, compassionate presence and precision-driven care, Dr. Rajendran brings deep clinical knowledge and a patient-first philosophy to Shoreline Periodontics.
A Connecticut native, Dr. Rajendran earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine, where she was recognized for academic excellence and graduated on the Dean’s List. She then returned to Connecticut to pursue specialty training at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, earning both her Certificate in Periodontics and Master of Dental Science (M.D.Sc.).
Dr. Rajendran is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is certified in conscious sedation, enabling her to offer comprehensive care to patients with dental anxiety. She is also certified in LANAP, a cutting-edge laser-assisted technique used in treating periodontal disease with minimal discomfort and faster healing.
Dr. Rajendran is a former President of the Connecticut Society of Periodontists and remains an active member as well as that of theAmerican Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA), American Dental Association (ADA ), and Connecticut Society of Periodontists (CSP). She also serves as clinical faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where she mentors the next generation of periodontists.
Passionate about improving access to care and clinical outcomes, Dr. Rajendran has contributed to key online courses, including a widely recognized course on alveolar ridge preservation for optimal implant placement.
Personal Statement
As a periodontist, my greatest reward is helping patients rediscover their confidence and well-being through expert, compassionate care. I believe that listening and education are just as important as clinical skill. When patients feel heard and supported, it transforms their experience and their outcomes.
