Shoreline Periodontics

At the office of Dr. Gregory Toback, we know that patients can have many concerns when it comes to dental implants in New London, CT. The procedure often sounds scarier than it is when compared to traditional teeth replacement methods like dentures or bridges; however, it is one of the most effective treatments for replacing lost teeth. Here are three reasons to consider dental implants.

1. Stimulate Your Jaw Bone

Unlike dentures and bridges, dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that also helps to stimulate the jawbone. This is a truly unique benefit that can also prevent further bone loss over time. Bridges can actually cause deterioration of healthy teeth and bone, as they are used for support.

2. Enjoy Enhanced Comfort

One of the biggest complaints we hear about dentures is their proclivity for slipping or clicking. This can cause embarrassment or social discomfort if it happens while you are eating or talking. Dental implants are not only extremely secure, they are also made out of more comfortable materials than traditional dentures. Today’s implants are made of either non-irritating titanium or ceramic materials that resist decay without irritating the gums or neighboring teeth.

 3. Invest in Treatment That Lasts

One of the most common concerns we hear at Dr. Toback’s office is anxiety about dental implant cost. The reality is that while implants may appear to have a hefty price tag up front, they often outperform dentures and even bridges by many years. Whereas dentures can break, deteriorate, and require replacements or expensive maintenance, implants are engineered to last a long time. In fact, the only maintenance they require is what you would typically do for your natural teeth:

    • – Brushing
    • – Flossing
    • – Regular cleaning with a dentist

These basic steps can keep your dental implants functioning well and feeling great for many years to come.
